plea to the universe to produce more interesting humans (to be followed by an ad for friends)
sometime soon i am going to need to make some friends who give a care about coming to a cool party.
i'm not sure what the problem is. the closest i can tell is that our current crowd just doesn't understand why going on a 1930s african safari for the night would be more interesting than, say, renting a movie.

it seems nobody wants to meet new people at a deep sea valentine party when they could sit home depressed instead. i mean, how could a mysterious environment filled with eligible strangers really compete with moping?
what is "retro happy hour?" they wonder. well, let's start by discussing what it isn't: it has nothing to do with a chain restaurant that serves "wings" of any kind, a big group of people wondering what to do tonight, lite beer, or gross-out "comedies" starring hack actors. retro happy hour or any thoughtful, themed get together is c-r-e-a-t-i-v-e. it involves conversation, it takes time, and it's memorable. it might even take effort or energy or might require certain aspects of personality that have been burried by very many boring nights in a row, such as the ability to enjoy something complex, a taste for adventure, or the maturity to participate in something you'll want to tell people about later instead of being too cool to try it.
it's been almost a year and a half since our last major event (which was practically pressworthy), but everything between then and now has failed miserably, thus dashing my dreams of hosting another blowout anytime soon.

This made me laugh out loud. It's so true. We can be so dull and stuck in our ways. It's much HARDER to do something different and actually try to get to know people. It takes work! But the payoff is well worth it. Why is creativity so underrated? If we had the $, Dave and I would fly down for your African safari!
You know you can count me in for theme parties or otherwise cool parties!
